Kunihiko Kasahara is one of the great origami masters. He dominates all folding techniques. In the three volumes “Origami Shin Hakken” he sums up his extensive life’s work.
Volume 1 gives an overview of Kasahara’s own style. With few characteristic lines he creates a variety of animal heads. Other models, such as cormorant, mouse, crane, heron and bat are characterized by their proportions and expressiveness. Twisted accordion folds represent waves, flying fish and enchanting imaginary figures. His style of depicting models in a minimalistic way is poetic. But beware: some model looks very simple, but the folding process proves to be more demanding than expected.
